For many people, visits to the dentist trigger stress that often prevents them from seeking care when needed. Fortunately, oral conscious sedation is a safe option for easing that anxiety. Whether you’re facing a simple dental cleaning or complex procedures, Dr. Chad Bodily and the trained professionals at Seasons Dental can help.
Fear of having dental work done is more common than many people realize. Some people have experienced dental trauma, while the sounds of drills trigger others. But a small pill before your appointment lets you stay awake but deeply relaxed during procedures.
Keep in mind that the effects of the sedation linger. For this reason, you’ll need to have someone with you to drive you home.
Studies show that approximately 36% of the overall population suffers from dental anxiety. More alarmingly, 12% experience extreme fear. With oral conscious sedation, Dr. Bodily can give you the dental care you need while keeping you calm and at ease.
At Seasons Dental, your safety is the team’s top priority. Oral conscious sedation is administered carefully to give you the peace of mind you need. Other forms of sedation include:
On the day of your appointment, you’ll take a prescription pill about an hour before Dr. Bodily begins your procedures. By the time he starts, you’ll feel calm but remain fully aware.
How does oral conscious sedation feel? The patients at Seasons Dental describe it as feeling “drowsy” or in a deeply relaxed state. This makes procedures go by more quickly and comfortably. Meanwhile, the trained staff will be closely monitoring you.
One of the main benefits of oral conscious sedation is that most people smoothly bounce back. It’s different from general anesthesia or IV sedation, which requires a longer recovery time. After a dental procedure with oral conscious sedation, you should be able to resume your normal activities the next day.
While used mostly for major surgeries, oral conscious sedation is also useful for these types of dental visits:
